SCAE Coffee Tour: Europeans in the Mist

A group of European coffee buyers descended on Rwanda for a one-week coffee promotional and marketing event that was organized jointly by the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) and the Specialty Coffee Association of Rwanda, and EAFCA. The event received logistical and financial support provided by USAID/Rwanda’s ADAR project and RATES. The event was attended by 19 European participants from Ireland, UK, Norway, Ukraine, and Lithuania who spent the week touring 11 washing stations and dry mills operated by private sector investors and cooperatives based in Rwanda. Following the tour, RATES and ADAR sponsored a special EAFCA Chapter “Coffee Club” function with over 60 participants from the Rwanda coffee sector and their European guests. This event highlights the ever growing popularity of Rwandan coffees and underscores USAID support to this success. RATES strongly supports regional/bilateral mission collaborative efforts and encourages other mission programs to contact the RATES staff for exploring future opportunities.
